Captain Joseph H. Gregg

Captain Gregg died on July 3, 1863 from wounds received on July 2, 1863 on Culp's Hill at Gettysburg.

Colonel Ireland, in his report of the battle, thus alludes to the officers who were killed: "Captain Gregg with a small squad of men charged with the bayonet the enemy that were harassing us most, and fell mortally wounded, while leading and cheering on his men."

Gregg, Joseph H. - Age 26 years. Enrolled at Binghamton, to serve three years, and mustered in as captain, Co. I, September 2, 1862; resigned, March 11, 1863; re-enlisted April 22, 1863; wounded in action, July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pa; died of his wounds, July 3, 1863.

Commissioned captain, November 1, 1862, with rank from September 2, 1862, original; recommissioned, April 10, 1863, with rank from March 8, 1863, vice himself resigned.'
